I tutor the GRE full time and I like to check out new GRE books to see if they have anything to offerTL;DR Though I think much of the advice in this book is well meaning and thoughtful both the uantity and uality of its practice uestions are poor making the book in my view overpricedWhat I likedThe book opens with study skills tips and unlike most GRE books I've seen the tips are generally thoughtful and useful GRE prep can be overwhelming for many and students can certainly benefit from this book's tips on organizing and studying effectivelyThe advice for the verbal parts of the test is useful particularly in helping to recognize the different ways authors construct reading passages Overall nicely doneWhat I didn't likeThe verbal advice isn't demonstrated on actual uestions so it's harder to absorb it's often just a lot of text without examples to help illustrateThe practice uestion realism is poor the uestions in this book are way way simpler than those you'll see on the real GREThe review of math concepts is painfully brief and can be best thought of as a uick brush up on the basicsFinally the price in light of how brief this book is compared to its competition it should be priced accordingly I paid about 16 I think about half that would be appropriateThe Bottom LineI can't recommend this book despite its insightful advice about studying and verbal uestions because it's so brief and because the practice uestions aren't realistic

This book was amazing I used it when retaking the GRE's and all of my scores improved especially my verbal by 12 points and my writing by 15 Each section has super helpful tips to tackling each part of the test I found the tips for the essays to be especially helpful because it went into great detail on how and what to write about what each paragraph should contain and Even if you don't understand the essay topics that well just following the tips in this book help tremendously The uantitative section included an overview of basically every math euation or topic I highly recommend this book for studying for the GRE's and it's cheaper than other books but still gives great results which is a plus
