Having read this book a number of times and ending up in tears I can safely say that this is one of the most powerful books I have ever read If you have a relative diagnosed with dementia or if you work in the care industry it is essential reading Through my job I have sat through numerous Dementia Training sessions and this book has taught me about the different perspectives of dementia than any of those courses and I can only hope that it will be turned into a short animation for the purposes of trainingMy heart goes out to both the author and his father and I would like to applaud the fact that he took time to write this book while going through such a difficult time and the way it is written is so simple and yet so hard hitting I can only hope it helped him to do this as much as it will help its readers to understand dementia and the effects of it on both the family and the sufferer

This is a lovely book moving and affectionate but with a touch of humour It makes the point that people with dementia are primarily individuals someone's father mother husband or wife who have achievements interests personalities and faults Ron's story is his own but it illustrates many of the situations that face other people with dementia and their families and deals with really difficult issues with a light and deft touch I will recommend it to others
