This book is one of a historical account rather than a focus on the romance or personalised story with all the pitfalls and determination for their relationship and marriage to survive As a historical account I relished the truth it reveals of the goings on of the British government creating situations of 'divide' before granting independence to a number of colonies I'm only to aware of living through this in my own country and how the 'divide and rule' has left my country with deep rooted racial and religious intolerance yet seemingly on the surface to be a good and fair democratic nationI also identified with the personal story of the daily struggles difficulties hostility and non acceptance of my own inter racial marriage in the 1970's because of our different religions
